Venue

The conference will take place over the course of several days in the University building (Palazzo Balbi 5) and in the premises of the School of Humanities – SSU (Palazzo Balbi 2). If you plan to arrive at Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport (Sestri Ponente), we recommend two possible options for getting to the city centre:

  • AirLink:

    The shuttle bus that departs from the airport’s arrivals area and takes passengers to Genova Sestri Ponente railway station (approximately 5 minutes). From here, by taking a regional train in the direction of Genova Brignole / Sestri Levante / La Spezia Centrale, you will arrive at Genova Piazza Principe station in approximately 15 minutes.

  • VolaBus:

    A direct transport service from the airport to Piazza Acquaverde (the entrance to Genova Piazza Principe station), with a journey time of approximately 15 minutes.

Both services are operated by Azienda Mobilità e Trasporti, but require the purchase of different tickets. Specifically, for the AirLink service, we recommend purchasing the integrated AMT/Trenitalia ticket, which allows you to travel on the entire urban network and on Trenitalia's regional and fast regional trains between the stations of Genova Voltri (westernmost point of the city) and Genova Nervi (easternmost point) for a total of 110 minutes. For the Volabus service, on the other hand, it is necessary to purchase a dedicated ticket.

 

Purchasing travel tickets

The following options are available for purchasing tickets:

  • AirLink service:

    You can purchase the integrated ticket (AMT/Trenitalia) via the official AMT app, available for iPhone (App Store) and Android (Google Play), or from the ticket machines located in the airport's arrivals area.

  • Volabus service:

    We recommend using the ILA (Instant Lane Access) system directly on board the bus. Simply hold your payment card (or NFC-enabled smartphone/smartwatch) against the reader located near the bus entrance; the system will automatically calculate the correct fare.
